Product List
The designer can choose to use either two single inductors or a dual winding “coupled” inductor. The coupled inductor offers many advantages including reduced board space, lower parts count and lower cost. If the same level of input ripple current is used, a coupled inductor offers another advantage in that a smaller inductance is needed to achieve the continuous conduction mode operation. The main advantage of separate inductors is the wide range of products that are available for almost any inductance and current combination. Many manufacturers do not offer dual winding “coupled” inductors. In 1995, under the brand Coiltronics, Eaton began offering dual inductors in its Octa-Pac family. Since then, the Octa-Pac family has expanded to offer alternate cost and performance options with the Econo-Pac and Octa-Pac Plus families. Eaton also offers several other Coiltronics coupled inductor product families that cover a wide range of current and inductance combinations.
