FX3 USB 3 Solution Slide 8

The first step is configuring the GPIF II interface to communicate with an image sensor, the GPIF II designer which comes as a part of FX3 SD kit can do this very quickly. First, initiate a new project using the Cypress supplied interface or design a custom one. Next, on the interface definition tab, select the type, bus width, and I/Os of the desired interface. This is determined by a chosen image sensor, each image sensor is different. With the programmable GPIF II, FX3 can connect to any of them. Now create the state machine to match the interface timing of the image sensor, and visualize the state transitions and associate output signals in step 4. Before finalizing the GPIF II design, the output of the GPIF II designer has a GPIF II descriptor which describes the behavior of GPIF II to the camera design.
