Terms specific to FX3 are featured on this slide. EZ-USB® FX3 is Cypress’s programmable USB 3.0 Peripheral Controller with integrated USB 3.0 PHY. It comes with a powerful ARM9 processor and 512 KB RAM. FX3 provides additional peripheral connectivity such as I2C, I2S, SPI, and UART. It also includes a software development kit with example code to reduce design effort. What is truly unique about FX3 is GPIF II, the second-generation general programmable interface. GPIF II is a programmable 32-bit bus that allows FX3 to communicate with any system at 100 MHz. GPIF II Designer is a software installed on a PC which provides a simple GUI to configure the GPIF II interface. GPIF II Descriptor is a set of predefined configurations that defines the behavior of the GPIF II. The FX3 API is a set of predefined interfaces that simplifies the development of FX3 firmware. Cypress Control Center is a SIMPLE GUI in the FX3 SDK that programs the FX3 Development Kit. In addition, Cypress introduced a FX3 HD 720p camera kit to enable quick FX3 camera designs in HD video market. That HD 720p camera kit consist of a FX3 development kit, an Aptina image sensor headboard, and interconnect board.
