This slide illustrates how the two calculators look on the screen. To activate the calculator, 550C and DCMC would be selected from the type pull down menus. 450V would be selected as the rated DC voltage on both calculators. The diameter would be 3 and the length would be 5.625. Clicking search catalog on both calculators would bring up the capacitors. From here, the ripple currents and air temperatures would be entered. Click calculate on both calculators, and note that the 550C has an expected life of 173,500 hours and the DCMC has an expected life of 9,400 hours. That’s a little less than 20 years and a little more than one year. The calculator allows the ESR and the capacitance values for custom ratings to be adjusted.
