Selecting the correct pulse wavelength depends on the type of line being tested and the transmitter wavelength. Some systems require “live testing” which is done on cables with live traffic. Here the 1625 nm wavelength is used. Testing with this wavelength is often referred to as “Out of Band” testing because the live traffic (with 1310 nm/1490 nm/1550 nm wavelengths) is not affected by the test.
