There are many options available with DPMs and C-Ton Industries supplies a variety of DC options. First, the 5 Volts DC; with this power the meter uses about 3 mA maximum and onboard circuitry creates its own negative 5 Volt supply. Next, the 9 Volts DC; with this power the meter uses a 9 Volt battery or a ± 5 Volt supply. Power consumption is only about 150 micro amps. This is good for hand-held equipment or applications where very low power is needed. A 4 to 20 milliAmp loop powered display is ideal for a process or any 4 to 20 milliAmp monitoring application. C-Ton meters use 5.5 VDC from the loop. In applications where backlighting is required due to low lighting, 24 VDC power, separate from the loop, is used. The 12 or 24 VDC power option is used on the rangeable voltage meters, making them readily available for use with a transducer, transmitter, or other output monitoring circuits.
