The EMS22 offers enhanced reliability in harsh environmental conditions such as mud, dust, grease, oil, water and dirt, giving this product a performance edge over traditional optical and contacting technologies. This non-contacting Hall Effect technology extends the rotational life of the Bourns® EMS22 device to over that of encoders using contacting technology. A single programmable ASSP that is programmed at the factory provides one of four outputs: quadrature, direction/step, absolute, or pulse-width modulation. The designer and end user can expect cycle life performance within rated limits without degradation of the signal accuracy in extreme temperature environments from -40 °C to +125 °C. The EMS22 is ideal for use in remote areas where cost savings from reduced field service are a benefit.
