The EMS22 produces a sinusoidal signal output by the rotation of a magnet in close proximity to the ASSP, based on the Hall Effect phenomenon. The sinusoidal signal is then converted to the desired output waveform by the pre-programmed ASSP, producing a quadrature, direction/step, absolute, or PWM signal at the output of the encoder. Rotation of the shaft may be driven by a mechanical interface such as a gear or coupler in machine-to-machine applications, or by a knob or jog shuttle wheel in human-to-machine applications.
