If a Niobium Oxide capacitor is driven into a failure it fails in a high resistivity state relative to Al Polymer and Ta Polymer. Breakdown voltage distribution ratio is typically greater than for Al Polymer and Ta Polymer. The amount of energy required to make Niobium Oxide ignite is very large compared to that required for Al Polymer and Ta Polymer. Further, the burn rate of Niobium Oxide is nearly an order of magnitude less than that of Tantalum or Niobium polymer.
