wireless transfer
What is RFID? RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification, which is the wireless transfer of data from electronic tags that are attached to items of interest. These tags have information stored electronically that identifies the item. Unlike other auto-identification technologies such as barcode, RFID does not require line of sight; thus creating faster read time and more options on the placement of the tag. Developed around World War II, the technology was created to identify aircraft as friend or foe. RFID is used in many applications around the globe including aviation, animal tracking, retail, pharmaceutical & hospitals, and many different types of supply chain management applications, just to name a few.
