The rivet lap joint is the simplest and lowest cost cutter joint. The rivet pins the two halves together. Often this mass-produced joint does not bring the cutting edges into alignment. A very small amount of wear from usage can loosen this joint so that edges will not line up to cut, giving an imperfect cut. This cutter is used in applications where a precise fine cut is not always required.
