It is commonly known that SSDs perform the best when made of SLC NAND Flash, but the price per GB prevents them from wide market spreading. MLC NAND Flash, though inferior to SLC in performance, endurance, power consumption and environmental reliability, has become a welcomed solution by memory product manufacturers as MLC offers higher density at lower costs.
