The AS5600, combined with the diametric magnetized magnet as shown on this slide, provides an easy way to work with a contactless, highly reliable and durable potentiometer. The AS5600 like all other ams OSRAM position sensors, uses a proprietary, proven angle measuring principle that makes the device robust against stray magnetic fields, temperature variation and displacement. The 12-bit angle information can be read over I2C, as an analog output ratiometric to VDD, or a PWM encoded output. The full output swing can be programmed to a custom angular range from 18° to 360°. This can be done using the I2C interface. In addition, the AS5600 offers an unique simple-to-use 3-wire programing mode for potentiometer applications.
