For signal integrity, Lynx™ QD provides support for data rates up to 56 Gb/s, PAM4. This data rate means Lynx QD is PCIe Gen 4 and Gen 5 compliant. The benefit for the designer is the ability to support low-speed to high-speed data rates with reduced cross talk at 20GHz and have an interconnect optimized for differential pair signaling. Lynx QD offers great flexibility with multiple form factors and module sizes. Airflow within a chassis or across the PCB is a key design issue for many applications but the low profile of Lynx QD Right Angle connectors (6.48mm height from the PCB) eases the restriction of air flow in the PCB assembly reducing this design issue. Because blind mating and robust mechanical alignment features are often required in high density applications, Lynx QD modules have large alignment features and integrated guide-posts to ensure proper alignment and mating. Not only does this provide a more reliable mating interface, it allows multiple mated sets to be mounted on the same PCB. This is referred to as multi-up configurations which also provide greater connector stability during reflow. Perhaps the most compelling feature of the Lynx QD family are the enhanced routing options. Because of the offset contact array and the wide ground contacts versus narrow signal contacts, designers have the ability to route signals from one side or both sides of the interconnect. This flexibility in routing reduces the number of PCB layers required and in turn reduces the cost of the PCB. These routing benefits reduce the footprint for the interconnect which allows more flexibility for other components required in the application. Routing will be detailed further in a later slide.
