The design of the Amphenol USB, Type A connector with this unique latching mechanism has been developed to address the major concern of unintentional interruption of data transmission. The latch must be intentionally raised in order to remove the plug. An accidental pull on the cable up to 22lbs (10 kg) force will not separate the connectors. This connector does not meet IP67, but what makes it a rugged connector is the positive locking. Currently there are applications where vibration and inadvertent separation of the cable is a potential problem due to loss of data when the mated interface is accidentally broken. If IP67 is not a concern, this LUSB connector is a connector to consider.
