The minimum resistance of the thermistor is determined by: Ambient temperature, Input capacitance value (of the pre-charge circuit) and Desired pre-charge time. For the purpose of this module, assume the following quantitative values: Ambient temperature is between 10ºC and 50ºC, Load Capacitance is 50,000µF, Battery Voltage is 100V, Desired pre-charge time is 20ms. Time constant, Ƭ(tau), is the time required to discharge the capacitor by 1-e-1(≈63.2) and 5Ƭ is required for full discharge, and surge current is subsided down to operating current. Ƭ also equals to R*C where R= Resistance of Thermistor and C=Load Capacitance. So 5Ƭ=RC, R=5Ƭ/C=5(0.02 sec) / 0.05= 2.0 Ohms.
