This is an ideal design, where R1 takes the thermistor off circuit. Sometimes engineers do not have the space or budget to utilize such a design. Depending on the steady state current, the R1 can be omitted: after Inrush Current, the Ametherm Thermistor could be left in the circuit. Due to its natural phenomena, the initial resistance of this thermistor will be minimal under load (“Hot” resistance is about 1/80th of initial resistance).
