This presentation will describe the basic anatomy of an IoT device – it is not meant to be a comprehensive description of how to build an IoT device, but rather it should be viewed as a framework from which to start. The anatomy of an IoT device can be both fixed and mobile. A fixed device is one that is mounted and does not move – an example of this could be a smart meter on a house. A mobile device is one that can be in different locations – an example of this could be something like a temperature monitoring device in the cargo compartment of a long haul truck, a wearable fitness tracker or a locator beacon for an automobile.
