In this example, the vibrational frequency causing issues is assumed to be 1,000 Hz. The material nomogram shows that the softer material, C-8012, provides peak damping at 10°C. The slightly stiffer material, C-8002, provides peak damping a bit over 20°C, or at room temperature. Material nomograms are available on each ISODAMP™ material datasheet to perform this calculation. In general, given a static vibrational frequency, better damping performance is attained by selecting higher durometer (stiffer) material as the operating temperature of the application increases. Each ISODAMP material series offers distinct durometers optimized for decreased temperature, room temperature, and elevated temperature operating conditions.
