Variable speed drives (VSDs) are devices that regulate the rotation speed of an electric motor. These motors power pumps, fans, and other mechanical components of buildings, plants, and factories. There are a few types of variable speed drives, but the most common is the variable frequency drive (VFD). VFDs are widely used to control AC motors in most applications. The primary job of both VSDs and VFDs is to vary the frequency and voltage supplied to a motor. These varying frequencies in turn control a motor’s acceleration, change of speed, and deceleration. VSDs and VFDs can reduce power consumption when the motor is not needed, and therefore boost efficiency. Our VSDs and VFDs offer you a wide range of fully tested and ready-to-connect motor control solutions, up to 20 MW. From compact pre-engineered systems to custom-engineered complex solutions, our products are developed and manufactured to the highest quality level to meet your needs for industrial processes, machines, or building applications.
Altivar Process 930 Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
Schneider Electric Altivar Process next-generation variable speed drives are designed to deliver IIoT benefits. A smart, connected EcoStruxure-ready drive with built-in intelligence to gather data and share information to the enterprise level, the Altivar Process can improve operational efficiency and profitability and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO).
Altivar™ 212 Variable Speed Drives (VSD)
Schneider Electric's Altivar 212 VSD offers a dependable and energy efficient solution specifically designed for HVAC applications in buildings. Example applications are fans (air handling units, condenser fans, and exhaust fans), pumps (pressure booster pumps and circulations pumps), and compressors (air conditioners, chillers, and heat pumps).
Soft starters are a type of motor control device that provides slow ramp-up (soft start-up) of the motor to help limit (moderate) mechanical shock and electrical peak demand. While a VFD can also control the specific speed of the motor, a soft starter can only control the acceleration and deceleration of a motor. We offer a complete line of feature-rich soft starters for commercial and industrial applications, including torque control options, soft starts designed for 3-phase motors, pre-engineered solutions, and one of the smallest mini soft starts on the market. Our range of soft starters from 3 A (0.37 kW) to 1200 A (900 kW) reduce mechanical stress on your machines.
Altivar™ Soft Starter – Altistart™ 01
Schneider Electric’s ATS01 series Altivar soft starter operates as a soft start/soft stop unit for asynchronous motors. The Altivar soft starter ATS01 enhances the starting performance of asynchronous motors by allowing them to start gradually, smoothly, and in a controlled manner.
