New Product Discoveries - EPC's eGaN® FET Series GaNFET and Murata's Micro DC-to-DC Converter
In this episode of Digi-Key Electronics New Product Discoveries I explore some awesome, miniaturized components from EPC and Murata.
The first product I want to address is a GaNFET (Gallium Nitride Transistor), which is part of the Generation 5 eGaN FET series from Efficient Power Conversion (EPC). An important fact to understand is that, while most people have a model for how electricity flows “through copper,” in reality electricity moves over copper as a wave. The eGaN FET takes advantage of this principle by conducting current over the device as opposed to through it by means of surface mode conduction. In the end, what this means for a designer is that the component does not heat up. These components are perfect for achieving high current density in power supply and RF applications.
Another device I want to discuss is a DC-to-DC converter from Murata. The LXDC2HL series comes in an incredibly small package that takes in around 2 to 5 V and outputs a variety of regulated voltages. By virtue of Murata’s ferrite material, this product has very low Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR), so it has low noise in a very small package.
These awesome products are available on digikey.com. Thanks for watching!
