EPC2045 Gen 5 eGaN FET

EPC's EPC2045 Gen 5 eGaN FET

You’re an engineer. No one is asking you to develop the latest and greatest thing worthy of a Nobel prize. However, you are under constant pressure to shrink the board and increase performance. EPC’s 2045 (DigiKey # 917-EPC2045ENGRCT-ND) eGaN FET measures in at a tiny 2.5 mm by 1.5 mm die package and is capable of 100 V and 16 A. Compared to a traditional MOSFET with similar capabilities, you would most likely resort to a TO-252 which is approximately 17 times the size of the EPC2045. The 2045 also boasts faster switching speeds than a comparable MOSFET and lower spike voltage at initial turn-on.

This isn’t new technology—FETs have been used in circuits for over 50 years—it’s just really, really small. It’s so small, in fact, that it can’t be handled with most traditional hand tools. If you’re looking for power products in a tiny package, this product is definitely worth looking at. More information about this product can be found on EEWiki, and feel free to ask any questions in the TechForum.
