Hello, Jayy here, your favorite Oddity. Today I will walk through a simple step by step set up to make your own Steampunk Display Case.
Parts:
The 3D model files can be downloaded here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5825185
STEP#1: Print the Parts
Like most of my builds, a 3d printer is required. The only thing I recommend for this step is printing the bracelet and the gears on the highest detail setting, you may have to do some light sanding to smooth it out, but it's the best way to ensure the gears work.
STEP#2: Assembly
Place the servo into the ring and add a screw to hold it in place.
Add the round servo horn to the drive gear as shown.
Add the bottom battery holder and slide the power cord through the hole.
I designed the top to hold a Circuit Playground Express, which is the brains of this project.
It should now look similar to this:
The top piece should just slide on.
STEP#3: Code
I used Make code to make this little test code for the circuit Playground control board. The code can be downloaded here:
Click and drag the code to your board, and that's it.
You can add anything to the top, and the board will help it glow.
