The high peak pulse currents (as they might occur during the acceleration process) cause stress to the part, which may cause it to become damaged. When high current peaks occur frequently (as will be the case with longer product lifespans plus higher stress), the part is more likely to fail. Cracks in the inner layer structure are quite common, among other problems.
