Finally, repeat the exercise again, but this time looking at the standard alumina substrate versus the thermally-enhanced aluminum nitride substrate, particularly in the 6 mΩ variant. The baseline system with the alumina 6 mΩ GM3 can do up to 125 kW at 50 kHz. Due to the thermal performance improvements of the aluminum nitride substrate, the power could be pushed up to 170 kW at 50 kHz, demonstrating how the GM3 helps bridge the gap in the Wolfspeed product power continuum. Similarly, due to increased overhead for losses, the switching frequency can almost be doubled at 125 kW, up to 95 kHz, or the junction temperature can be reduced to +109°C. Again, this is all achievable by simply utilizing the thermally-enhanced aluminum nitride substrate.
