Even though the thermal conductivity of glycol is not as high as water, glycol provides freeze protection during use of the application. Glycols with proper inhibitors are easily available on the market and are highly recommended over non-inhibited glycols. Industry standard recommends a minimum concentration of 25-30% of glycol in water. At this minimum concentration, the glycol also serves as a bactericide and fungicide. Ions in the water can cause the tubes/channels to clog or corrode. Therefore the quality of the water used in the glycol solution is important.
