Another technology that helps Furuno stand apart from its competition is the proprietary version of Anti-Jamming. Anti-Jamming is a critical feature in systems requiring time and timing synchronization, including synchronization between networks and time stamping of servers, as well as social infrastructure applications like mobile base stations and smart grids which require high stability. Furuno achieves this by combining the following 2 functions. Typically, if a GNSS timing receiver is affected by noise, it leads to deterioration in accuracy and output failure of time information and the time pulse (1PPS: Pulse Per Sec). However, with Furuno’s Anti-Jamming function, the GT series Multi-GNSS timing receiver is able to reduce “Jamming” (noise) both inside and outside of the equipment. Capable of using multiple GNSS signals of different frequency bands, the Furuno Multi-GNSS receivers can maintain reception when there is an interruption due to jamming in the band of GPS signal switching to GLONASS signal in a different band. The graph here shows the test conducted by Furuno comparing their GNSS Timing receiver with Anti-Jamming with conventional GPS timing receiver. While the conventional GPS timing receiver showed a decrease in accuracy at -80dBm, and even stopped functioning at -76dBm, the Furuno’s Multi-GNSS timing receiver kept its 1PPS output accurately at the respective test conditions. Conclusion: this test showed, while the competitors timing receiver degraded its accuracy or even failed, the Furuno Multi-GNSS timing receiver can stay stable enough to output 1PPS even under harsh environments.
