A result of the polymer termination’s ability to flex is seen and this bend test. In this test, MLCCs are mounted on PCBs and intentionally flexed. The MLCCs are in a circuit where capacitance can be measured as they are flexed. Failures are recorded as the degree of board flexure is increased. As can be seen, parts with polymer terminations are able to withstand roughly twice the board flexure as parts with standard terminations.
