The HRHA series resistors use a wirewound resistor inside of a ceramic housing to achieve very high pulse energy ratings. In the example here, HRHA series resistors withstand forty 9,000 joule, 1.8 second pulses in short circuit mode, while maintaining their temperature under 250°C. Recommended pulse separation differs depending on the type of heatsink being used, in this case 100 second pulse separation was used when testing on 6 mm thick stainless steel, and 167 seconds was used when testing on 6 mm thick pamitherm. Similar results can be seen when testing in RC discharge mode. While a heatsink is not required for single-pulse applications, it is recommended to handle repetitive pulses.
