The CRCW-IF series utilizes technology that is similar to standard thick-film chip resistor series, however, it has an untrimmed resistive element. This is compared to most thick-film resistors which have a laser trimmed resistive element. When standard trimmed resistors are exposed to a pulse condition, what is known as a “hot spot” may occur in the area of highest current density adjacent to the area that is trimmed. The untrimmed resistive element of the CRCW-IF allows for enhanced pulse load capabilities since the resistive element will not experience a localized “hot spot” area as the current density during a pulse condition is more evenly distributed across the entire resistive element. This untrimmed design is offered with tolerance ±5% or ±10%.
