The NTCLE317 has two insulated Nickel-Iron alloy wires, which have the lowest thermo-conductivity for a temperature sensor on the market. Due to the thermal decoupling, there is minimal heat loss along the wire length at steady state resulting in no temperature gradient. Consequently, it provides an ultimate temperature measurement accuracy on hot spots. The bead dimension is restricted to 1.6 mm max (compared to 2.4 mm for its NTCLE300 predecessor), and the response time in stirred air is now around 3 seconds compared to 6 seconds for NTCLE300. Tight electrical tolerances are ensured by small resistance distribution spreads and stringent electrical sorting in production. This enables production to achieve a temperature accuracy of ±0.5°C on a range. Finally, the bead coating epoxy has a good adhesion to the PEEK insulation of the wire, which ensures a robust resistance to harsh conditions including high humidity, even for these small bead dimensions.
