SSD Speed/Performance is also called “throughput” and “bandwidth”. Each is used to describe a different performance. The throughput between the host and SSD for sequential writes and reads to contiguous blocks of flash memory. Sequential bandwidth speed is measured in megabytes per second (MB/s). Bandwidth is the operational performance between the host and SSD for writes and reads to random blocks of flash memory. Random read/write performance is measured in the number of Input/Outputs Per Second or IOPS.
