PDUs Slide 11

Switched PDUs offer the same features as Monitored PDUs, with the addition of individually-switchable outlets. The built-in network interface and included software allows managers to remotely control power to individual PDU outlets via an Ethernet network connection. Managers can reduce costly service calls by remotely rebooting locked-up devices connected to the PDU. Managers can also extend runtime for critical equipment (such as servers) during a power failure by remotely shutting down less critical devices (such as monitors). Switched PDUs are available in low- and high-voltage versions for all applications worldwide. Managers can also use the remote interface to program outlets to start up in a predetermined sequence or to wait a predetermined length of time before starting up after a power outage (to safeguard against in-rush current and tripped circuit breakers). It is also possible to use the remote interface to set load alarms and thresholds and to disable power to unused outlets, ensuring that the PDU is not inadvertently overloaded by unauthorized personnel. Models are available in either Single-Phase or 3-Phase input.
