Welcome to the Trinamic product training module on the TMC5160, the high-power stepper motor driver & controller with StealthChop^™. This presentation will cover the TMC5160, a fully integrated IC to drive and control a stepper motor using external MOSFETs for high-power drives, high current and low power-dissipation. This IC allows control of each number of stepper motors from any single microcontroller. Optionally, you can drive the motor via a step direction signal. All real-time critical tasks are realized in hardware. This allows an easy to use interface and short design-in cycles. Once configured, the motor can be driven by simply giving target position, commanding a homing sequence, or giving a target velocity. The TMC5160 fits into 12V, 24V and 48V systems and comes in two different packages with a small form factor each.
