The MSP430FG6x devices are based around an industry proven 16-bit RISC core, operating from 3.6 V down to 1.8 V, with speeds up to 20 MHz this is an ideal platform for data gathering and analysis systems. A flexible yet powerful clock system offers developers a variety of clocking options and low power modes to enable increased system optimizations. The USB module is a fully integrated USB interface that is compliant with the USB 2.0 specification. The module supports full-speed operation of control, interrupt, and bulk transfers. The module includes an integrated LDO, PHY, and PLL. Up to four additional serial ports are available offering options for SPI, UART and I²C communication. Additional peripherals include a 16-bit cyclic redundancy check (CRC) module, ideal for memory of data transmission checksum generation, a 32-bit hardware multiplier, a real time clock module with calendar and alarm functions. The flexible analog front end enables a variety of configurations without the need for additional external IC’s. Potential end applications could include, single chip portable gas detectors, light meters, blood glucose meters or pulse oximeters.
