Product List
The InstaSPIN-BLDC technology will be available on two hardware platforms and the first one is the DRV8312 board as shown here. Now, the DRV8312 has completely integrated three-phase motor driver with the power devices already on board and one can actually power this device from a voltage of 50 volts up to a continuous rating of 3.5 amps or peaks up to over 6 amps. Shown here, this graph was actually taken with the DRV8332 which is the big brother to the DRV8312 but it is basically the same device in a different package. Notice the efficiency that the designer is getting over the switching frequency range. Down around 100 kilohertz and under of switching, one is up around 97% efficiency. To be able to go up to something like 500 kilohertz and still have 90% efficiency in the power stage, is really quite an incredible feat. One of the reasons that this can be done is because the dead-time in these devices is 5 nanoseconds. So, not only does that mean one is getting great efficiency but also getting pristine waveforms to drive the brushless motor with. So, again, this is the DRV8312 board and this is one of the options that TI will be releasing with the InstaSPIN-BLDC technology on.
