The CKG MEGACAP Series utilizes an alloy 42 lead frame connected to the ends of MLCCs in single or stacked configuration. Because of the L-shaped lead frame, this double stacked capacitor series is ideal for applications under severe environments such as automotive, lighting, and various power supply topologies. It has also become a countermeasure for the piezoelectric effect, which is experienced by the vibration of some ferroelectric capacitors (EIA Classes II and III) on a PCB. The graph shown here compares sound pressure with the use of a CKG capacitor, a conventional cap with high-dielectric material, and a capacitor with low-dielectric material. The MEGACAP Type capacitor performs the best in absorbing sound. This is mainly because the double stacked design includes two capacitors in parallel. In addition, TDK supports opportunities to replace existing technologies such as tantalum capacitors with MEGACAP Type capacitors.
