RL Current Sense Resistors Slide 10

In a DC/DC converter switching circuit operating at several hundred kHz and using a short-side terminal resistor, the transient switching pulse waves contain a noise peak at each onset of the wave, as shown in the left picture. The noise disappears when using a long side terminal current sensing chip resistor, as shown in the right side picture. Using such low ESL current sensing resistors, the designer can avoid employing additional noise reduction circuitry.
