Designed to accept 0.062” daughter cards, Sullins Connector Solutions basic PCI Express connectors are available in staggered dip solder or surface mount termination. Each is available in x1, x4, x8, and x16 lanes to accommodate different bandwidth requirements. For instance, the x1 version with 36 pins is usually used to replace the older PCI connector. Meanwhile the x16 version with 164 pins is typically used for applications that require high bandwidth, such as graphics. The other two basic versions are the x4 and x8, which have 64 and 98 pins respectively. The staggered dip solder pins are designed to support hot plug capability by providing sequential mating. Sullins Connector Solutions also offers the larger lanes x24 (230 pins) and x32 (280 pins), which are usually used in servers to accept riser cards.
