Sensor Fusion is the principle of how ST’s trademark iNemo engine complete hardware and software solution works. It combines a high-performance accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass along with the iNEMO engine software library to get a reliable output. When using a simple accelerometer and adding a magnetometer the system becomes more complex. If a gyroscope is added, there is additional data being brought in that the user must determine what to do with. The iNEMO engine includes a library that fuses all the data and outputs it in a reliable and simple manner for use in an application. The applications could be any application where the user needs to know a position and an orientation in space. Some common examples are given on this slide, including gaming, gesture recognition, and more.
