HDMI is an ideal application for using ESD suppression arrays such as the Stackpole ESA and ESAU. By replacing the discrete 0402 size suppression chips on the TMDS signal pairs and the TMDS clock pair with 0402 by four chip arrays, it is possible to downsize the board space needed for the protection solution by approximately 26% while also reducing overall weight.
