Basic Functions of Current Sensing Resistors

A current sense resistor is placed in the delivery path of the power circuitry. The full supply current will be forced through the shunt resistor. The voltage across the current sensing resistor is proportional to the supply current and is fed back to the power IC to control the output power. The resistance value for this sense resistor is a key design parameter.
