The sensors come standard with a choice of either a ¼” NPT or 1/8” NPT port and a 36” integral harness. If the pressure sensor will be subjected to moisture, or high humidity, the MediaSensor™ P51 may be the solution. The pressure sensor employs a cable over-mold, which molds the cable jacket to the top of the sensor so moisture cannot enter the transducer where the cable exits the unit. Other manufacturers may employ an ineffective “shrink wrap” technology to keep moisture out. This features helps keep moisture out, but they are not to be used in submersible applications. P51 pressure sensors offer 3 electrical output options. The first 2, either a 4 - 20mA or a 1 – 5V output, each operate with an input voltage range of 8 – 30V. The third option, a 0.5V - 4.5V output (with or without overvoltage protection) operates with a regulated 5V input supply. The current (4 – 20mA) output is often chosen for industrial applications where the signal must travel long distances, and are more immune to electromagnetic interference, whereas the voltage outputs are chosen for shorter distances.
