Expanding Signal’s line of SMD inductors is the high current toroidal inductor, HCTI series. High current toroidal inductors are described as “high current toroidal inductors which are used in various electronic circuits”. The toroid itself is round in shape, like a donut, made from ferrite or powdered iron material. Insulated wire is wrapped around the toroid, the number of turns with the wire is counted and serves the purpose of self-leads in many cases. They are used mostly in low frequencies where large inductances are required. Toroid inductors can carry more current and have more inductance per turn. They can be vertically or horizontally mounted with either self-leads or via a header board.
