A conventional SEPIC converter schematic diagram with two inductors L1 and L2 is depicted in schematic #1 of this slide. “SEPIC” is an abbreviation of the description for this circuit type: Single Ended Primary Inductor Converter. The SEPIC circuit can be used as a Buck and Boost and 1:1 Regulator in a single circuit. In a Buck converter, the regulated output voltage is lower than the input voltage. The inverse takes place in a Boost converter. The main practical function of a SEPIC converter is that it delivers regulated output voltage over a wide range of input voltage which can vary from higher than to lower than to equal the output voltage. The SEPIC converter can perform this voltage regulation function using either a two individual inductor configuration or one Dual Winding Inductor which is the focal point of this presentation.
