Pulse-Slide7

In summary, wirewound resistors outperform other types of resistors when hit with extraordinary pulse loads or transients. The pulse rating of a wirewound resistor is determined by the wire length, wire diameter and wire resistivity. All Riedon wirewound resistors meet the industry overload standard of five times the rated power for five seconds. For short pulse overloads, Riedon must determine how much energy the resistor can absorb without failing. To help optimize a resistor for a particular application, Riedon will need to know the desired resistance value, pulse duration, pulse shape, number of expected pulses, the peak power of the pulse, as well as the package type.
