Qualtek uses two types of AC motors in its AC axial fans. These two types are shaded pole and permanent split capacitor. The shaded pole type of motors are very inexpensive to produce at the  cost of having low starting torque and low efficiency, but are extremely rugged. Permanent split capacitor motors are more expensive than shaded pole motors and feature the benefits of having improved starting torque and a large increase in efficiency.  The next two slides will further discuss each motor type in more detail.
