Standard 4 mm banana, 2 mm banana, and pin tip cables are used below 1 MHz and they are not designed for handheld applications with more than 33 Vrms applied, but can operate at higher voltages when used in a hands free controlled environments. Typically used for interconnecting DMMs, power supplies, low-frequency test fixtures or patch panels. Shrouded or “sheathed” banana leads have an insulated cover over the conductive plug and are rated for measurements above 33 Vrms with appropriate DMMs.
