USB (Universal serial bus) is one of the most popular interfaces for data transfers not only in-between PCs and portable devices such as cell phones, digital cameras and personal media players but also in other applications like infotainment, WiFi storage, WiFi Routers, POS/Card readers, KVM switches, and embedded PCs. USB 3.0 is becoming the ubiquitous interface standard. The first version USB 1.0 was released in 1996, USB 1.0 specified data rates of 1.5 Mbit/s (Low-Bandwidth) and 12 Mbit/s (Full-Bandwidth). SB 1.1 was released in August 1998, fixing problems identified in 1.0. USB 2.0 was released in April 2000 (now called "Hi-Speed"), adding higher maximum signaling rate of 480 Mbit/s. USB 3.0 was released in November 2008. The standard defines a SuperSpeed mode with a signaling speed of 5Gbps.
