PC Board Inserters and Extractors Slide 7

While originally designed for Card- or Wedge-Loks in cold wall applications, the Birtcher 71 series also offers design modifications, which make it compatible with the Birtcher 24 and 127 series Lok-Tainer for sheet metal applications. The modifications include the addition of an actuator tab and bent leg option. The actuator tab option on the extractor assists with unlatching the lever on the Lok-Tainer. When extracting the PC board, the extractor’s actuator tab will push against the lever on the Lok-Tainer to release the board. The bent leg option enables the extractor to make contact with the extractor flange to eject the PCB. When using the Birtcher 71 extractor with the Birtcher 24 or 127 series Lok-Tainers, the extractor is first connected to the PCB via the roll pin (like any other inserter or extractor), then the board and extractor are inserted into the Lok-Tainer, and the Lok-Tainer is actuated via either lever or screw. When removing the PCB, the user would apply pressure on the extractor which would disengage the lever on the lever Lok-Tainer. The bent leg on the extractor would push against the Lok-Tainer actuator, thereby releasing the PCB.
